Christmas Eve is tomorrow and I can hardly wait for the festivities in our home to begin!

This posting was specially made for the Belles N Whistles Advent Calendar countdown!

I have made a little booklet of sorts (don't know what to call it) and I hope you enjoy it.

Belle going home for Christmas Eve. Image is called Christmas Door. I wanted to make a full scene so I added a few details. That's supposed to be a wooden door but I think it's more gray then white... I think I made a mistake on the floor too.... Icicle is a MS punch, glitter-ified and mounted on 3d foam. All papers are BG Fruitcake. There are glitters on the wreath, tree and poinsettia centers.

Christmas Hearth. This image is just so cute and I love how EB has captured the innocence of childhood. I wanted to make another full scene to match the front cover and have tried to make a wallpaper design. I hope you can see it. I used gold pen for the stripes and stamped long scroll images (cream ink) in between the stripes. The wreath on top of the mantle was cut out from the Christmas door image. I had an accident with the carpet. It was initially green but it looked terrible so I cut of the whole lower portion (below children's outlines) and covered with new paper and colored the carpet pink. Not so sure about the color combo.

Tired from all the waiting and wondering, they both fell asleep.

The wing chair looks shiny IRL because my marker acted up and started coloring shiny... don't know why it happens but I decided to color the whole chair again and liked the shiny effect.

This cute image is called Twas the Night Before Christmas.

The 2 side flaps are actually inserts and you can write on the notecards or put money in the flaps too. Merry Christmas sentiment was printed out from the computer. Always and Believe are stickers from the BG Fruitcake collection.

This is a huge card 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". All stamps are Magnolia. Santa with sleigh is hand drawn. Background was sponged and images were colored with Copics. Tilda is mounted on 3D foam. There are glitters on the wreath, post and trees.

Parol - The Philippine Christmas Lantern

It's Day 11 on the Belles N Whistles Advent Calendar!

I am going to present Star of Bethlehem and my western version of the "Parol" also known as the Filipino Christmas Lantern. For those not familiar with the Parol - I found this wonderful Parol article online. Copied and pasted the first few parts of it here.

Parol is a traditional Filipino Christmas decoration, a five point star-shaped Christmas lantern.

Originally made of thin bamboo frames and covered with colored cellophane or with rice paper also known as Japanese paper or papel de Japon. It has two tails that serve as the rays of the star.
Parol reminds the Filipino Christians of the star of Bethlehem that guided the Three Wise Men on their way in search of Baby Jesus.
During Christmas season, parols are seen everywhere. As early as November, parols are hang on windows or door of every Filipino homes, offices, schools, shopping malls and even streets are adorned with these multi-colored lanterns. You will even find mini parols hanging on buses and jeepneys and cars. Today, the parol become more colorful because of the twinkling bulbs in dazzling pattern that help illuminates each parol.

For my western version of the "parol", I used K & Co. Swell Noel papers and MS Daisy edge punch and of course white Japanese papers. My favorite part of Christmas are the decorations and the Noche Buena!

The image was colored with Copic markers. I am sorry for the blurry photo, there was a breeze and the parol kept turning. :( The best shot I had was during the daytime.

I chose a light green color for her gown, added star shaped patterns on it and added lots of sparkle (with glitter dots) using spica green and silver pens. I left the upper portion of her gown plain as I didn't want her to look like wallpaper :) For her little sister, a gown of blue with little dots on the bottom. I wanted big sister to be the focal point. Silver glitters were applied on the Star, hair ribbon, bells on waist, shoes and on her sister's blue gown. There is also a silver cord going around the pentagon shape between the lace punch and the image.

Copic Creations Challenge 18 - Coloring Pine

I know this card looks simple - but whew, it took me 3 nights to finish this card. I couldn't align the DP and the white base cs because I first embossed the labels 3 die on it. It looked real plain so I tried to add some color by adding the green dp on top. After a few tries and bit of wasted dp... it's aligned as best as I could.

The 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"card is white base. Spellbinders labels 3 embossed on the upper portion and the image was mounted on 3d foam. Bottom of card has a red cs strip with silver glitters on the top and bottom.

Copics used: G14, G17, G28, 0, R27, C1, C2, C7
The blue background was colored with B23.

Manga Fairy

I was supposed to enter this card for the Midnight Madness Challenge sketch #30 but knowing me - I am so late and they have a new challenge up lol!

Keeping this short, I used Fairy Manga from the Sugar Nellie line. She was colored with Copics.

Her slippers and wand were glittered with Silver. Her dress is sparkly IRL. She and her cloud are mounted on 3d foam.

Background was sponged with SU! inks and edges of card were lined with stickles. Stamped Inkadinkadoo stamps on each corner and stamped snowflakes on top using white ink. Didn't show very well so I added shadows on the flakes. I also stamped 2 snowflakes and added dazzling diamond on top but it's not sowing very well either. Around the moon, I've dotted the edges with a silver pen to make it look like a silvery night.

Well, that's it... more cards to make. My Tilda's have arrived yippeee!

Sugar Bowl Challenge 25: My sketch

It's Sugar Bowl Thursday!

It's my sketch for this challenge and the option is:

make any card with YOUR FAVORITE COLORS

doesn't have to be Christmas one btw

The stamps will be handpicked by the SN boss herself. ^_~

For my card, I chose to use the super cute Miss Clause minus her shopping bags & did a very quick technique of covering her hat, clothes and boots with glitters. Her hair and skin were colored with Copics.

For her fur trim, I didn't have any Polar white Flower Soft, I used cotton (with the help of tweezers) and added white glitters. I think it turned out real cute with the 3d element added! Sprayed the round cs behind her with blue glimmer mist. It's really shimmery IRL. Used a spellbinders pendant die behind her and added pearls... then mounted it on 3d foam.

The base card initially was plain rectangular red and while doing my layout, it looked like there was something wrong with the card so I tried punching the edges with the MS loop punch. It looked much better to me...festive and fun.

The pink cs was lined with silver Stickles. I think I should have made the square a little bit smaller. On the blue DP (Memory Box Winter Collection) I used silver Spica pen for the faux stitching. See those little dots on the red cs? I used a Quickie glue pen then glitter-ified it with white.

The 2 snowflakes on the left were actually buttons with a *loop* on the back trimmed off with a wire cutter. I folded a long green DP to make it look like a t-shirt label. This was tucked under the pink cs.

Hope this is a better picture...

My mom claimed the non-existent card before I finished gluing the cotton on the trim and my sister wants me to make a similar one after seeing the finished card. I'll do one with a glittered pink Miss Clause. tee hee!

If you do not have time to color, you can either do paper piecing or just glitter the image. Did you figure out my top fave colors yet? Red, Pink, Blue, Green (with lots of white and a dash of silver for now) lol!

For the inside, I used MS loop punch on the top and bottom edge of the red cs again. Did some white dotting around it. Made a border inside the white cs with a silver pen. Added pink and blue snowflakes for accent.

The insides have *bigger* writing space because they always say "there's no space to write on.." lol. My cards lately have the size 4 1/2" x 6" so they can fit in the A6 (4 3/4" x 6 1/2") envies, saves me time and helps avoid the "where's the envelope? Can you make one?" questions too. The insides have to be flat for postage reasons :)

Copic Creations Challenge 17 DT card and an award

Hello everyone! I am happy to say that I am joining the lovely talented ladies of the Copic Creations Challenge blog! I am in awe of the team's coloring skills and am humbled to join their team. So, without further babbling here's my DT card. :)

Challenge 17: Snowmen/Snow

The prize is a Whipper Snapper Gift certificate!

I only have the Whiff of Joy 2008 snowman stamps and from these, I chose Herb with Teacup, illustrated by the talented artist Elisabeth Bell. I know Herb is a guy's name but I am going to refer this image as a snow lady. :) She was colored with Copics. The thin band on her hat has stickles on it. I added little white dots randomly to make it look like snowflakes falling around her. The oval background was sponged with SU! inks. I used MS snowflake punch outs to make a snowflakes/wintry frame.

The DP I used (behind oval) was from the Memory box Winter collection. Sides were sponged with SU! ink and then I finally stamped white snowflakes on top. I used a Spellbinders border die for the scallop on the bottom part - inspired by Debbie O. :) I then matted it on soft blue cs. Placed silver pearls on each scallop and thought the card still looked bare so I added MS (red) ribbon punch out. I am sorry for the lopsided sentiment. :)

Copic colors used:

Snow lady's body: B00, B000, C1, C0

Everything else: E30, E31, R04, R07, R24, R27, R29, R81, R83, R85, BG13, BG15, BG18, 0

She was colored with Copic markers, cut out and mounted on 3d foam. I wanted her to wear a velvet looking green dress with gold trims/accents hopefully the texture is showing. Added gold trims/accents on her clothes and shoes. Love the soft greens and blues. I have to make more Christmas cards so I better get moving :)

Rockin' Around

Before I go on with my post I would like to give a BIG thank you to everyone who's joined the Belles N Whistles blog hop and to those who've left comments! (of course) :)

For this post, I've re-used/ re-decorated this cheese container and ....

turned it to this cute mini keepsake container. It's really easy to make. I've used the image called Rockin' Around and she was colored with Copics. I placed the container on our Christmas tree so I'd have a nice background :) You can put little trinkets in it to give to a little girl. Line the insides with cotton or something similarly soft. Or maybe a set of cute coasters? Round photo album?

Her ribbon, bells and holly berries were all "glitter-ified" :)

For the rocking horse, I lined the stirrup, saddle and patch with gold stickles. Colored the horse pink and added white patterns. The bottom hopefully looks like wood.

For the background (blue dp) I also added mini snowflakes (with silver glitter centers). Did gold faux stitching on the blue dp as well. Stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment in red ink - to make it really look like a Christmas gift.

I lined the cover and bottom with a Christmas dp. I used a MS holly leaf edge punch for the edge of the tin. Hopefully, this creation has inspired you or given you an extra idea (in some way) to make your Christmas presentation/gift.

Our theme for this hop is Holiday Gifts/Gift wraps. I have decided to decorate a cookie tin. The lovely image I have used is called Star of Bethlehem. Coloring was done with Copics.

I took this picture underneath our Christmas Tree. I've placed the image on the red lid. Lined the edges with punched out holly leaves and rhinestones for the berries. I've applied gold stickles on her gown, ribbon on her hair and shoes. Red glitters on every berry on her dress and her little sister's ribbon. The *floral* band (MS Topiary edge punch) is beside the tin and I've taken a picture before placing it around the tin.

I have tied the band around the tin. It looked like it still needed a little something.... so I made these round cameos from both Christmas Collections. Berries on their hairs were applied with red glitter. Aren't they just super cute?

Close up of a Poinsettia. For the leaf, I punched out a jumbo MS Snowflake on green cs. For the flower, 2 layers of Spellbinders Nesting Poinsettias and the 3rd layer is a 6 pointed flower punch out. I didn't put glitters on the 6 pointed flower because it might be too much glitter. :) The center is a brad covered with gold glitters.

The new gift tin with the decorated lid and sides. I think it looks prettier with the round cameos. Hopefully this picture looks better. It's really sparkly IRL. :) I have left the upper right portion blank because this is where I will be writing the "To:" portion. :)

Sugar Bowl challenge 24: Marlene's Sketch

It's another Sugar Bowl Thursday and for this challenge we have a fun fun sketch from Marlene!

Option: ZIG-ZAG or RIC RACS

The prize for this challenge is the new set of Sugar n Spice stamps!!!

They're currently being previewed on the Sugar Nellie blog.

The rule is to please use a SUGAR NELLIE stamp and the option in your card/project.

For this challenge I used this Gorjuss image called Foxy. She was colored with Copics. I drew in some zigzags on her coat (hopefully for a tweed look) and her did some doodling on her wool hat. I also added a tuft of hair on the small fox. I used the MS zigzag punch on the edges of the dp and puzzled them together with a little distance.

I opted to use snowflakes for the 2 panels because my card was small (5" x 5") and it was easier to do add a snowflake :) Used clear buttons for frost/ice effect. I couldn't decide red or gold strings for the button centers so I did one of each color. I added holly with leaves to make the snowflake a flower.

The band on the center is a Spellbinders die and MS snowflake edge punch. Sorry for the grainy photo... I had to borrow my sister's camera :)

The beauty of Fall

I've finally inked this WoJ stamp from the Fall 2009 Kit. She was colored with Copic markers. I used vellum paper so I wouldn't completely cover the beautiful Papertrey DP. I used rhinestone leaves around the scalloped frame. I think the colors of Fall are just beautiful. The orange and yellow leaves are just breath taking!

Before I go on with my babbling, I just wanted to say that I am so happy and proud to be with this team of very talented ladies!

Did you enjoy seeing all their yummy creations?!

I am currently on vacation and am unable to do any new cards with the new images so I used 2 images from the Fall 2009 release that you can also use for Christmas cards before I left. Both cards are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Images are colored with Copic markers. I also used easy layouts for both cards so they would be quick and easy to make.

The first card (from this previous post) is called Warm Apple Pie. I used Christmas colors on her clothes and card, added some holly and leaves on the corners. The red berries were red brads with the prongs removed. The cloth draped around her waist and on the lowest part of her skirt looked like holly with leaves to me so I colored them and stuck with a white background. If you do not like to color you always have the option of paper piecing. :) You can also put glitters on her clothes for bling - Christmas is always blingy!

She is also wonderful to use for Thanksgiving, birthday, welcome home, welcome to the neighborhood, just for you and get well soon cards (in my opinion).

For my second card, I used Tania with Baking. I just realised I used her to make a recipe card type on the 1st blog hop. In the previous card, I colored a portion of her hair red to make it look like she was wearing a hairband. :) For this card, I just colored her hair as is.

This sweet image is very versatile and can be used for Birthday cards, recipe cards, recipe books, bookmarks for recipe books, and you can use her for any season, just change the color of her clothes.

I drew snowflakes on her blouse and apron for the winter effect. Tried a pink and soft blue color combo instead of the usual red and green. I initially wanted to use snowflakes to surround her oval frame but decided to use a pompom ribbon around her and imagined them as snowballs instead.

Made a quick card using this cute Hanglar girl. I used Magnolia houses for her background. I sponged the sky with blue and purple shades to reflect the moody sky we have. Purposely left the houses blank and the floor was sponged with browns and blues (for puddles). The card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". She was of course colored with Copic markers.

You can use this yummy image Warm Apple Pie for your Christmas cards or Christmas tags too. She was colored with Copic markers and then cut out. I colored her sash white and added some red berries on it because the leaves looked like holly leaves to me.

The holly berries on the corners are from brads - I just removed the prongs. The white labels 4 die was mounted on 3d foam. The upper corner was cut off and distressed a bit.

Super easy card ... sorry for the blah blah..

Copic Colour Challenge #35 GDT card

The lovely girls from the Copic Colour Challenge have asked me to be one of their GDT for this challenge. Thanks ladies! :)

The color combo for this challenge is: R27, BG02, G05

The only requirement is to at least use Copic markers somewhere and to use the copic colors specified or the ones closest to them. That's it! :)

For this challenge I have used this Belles N Whistles image called Sisters (July 2009 release). I know it's Fall already but I thought the color combo matched these 2 sweet girls so I stuck with it. I made this card before I left for vacation. I've also used some wooden flowers and added leaves and pearl centers. Paper is Basic Grey.

Sugar Bowl challenge 21: Tiet's Sketch

It's Sugar Bowl Thursday again and we have a delicious sketch from Tiets!

The option for this challenge: Christmas or Winter Theme

To win the yummy prize of

4 Country Cousins Christmas stamps and 4 stamps of your choice

you need to use the option and of course a SUGAR NELLIE image.

I used this sweet image called Snowflake... my new manga stamps have not arrived as of this posting. I've used shimmery paper, glitters, gold cords, gold ribbons and acetate for this card. She is of course colored with Copics.

The round acetate was embossed with the same snowflake folder (same as blue shimmery cs) and I placed white leaves on top to make it sort of wintry looking. The edges of each cs and card were lined with gold pen. The gold cord was made to look like a chain. The gold dots around the sentiment are dotted glitters. Her muffs have flower soft on it and the polka dots on her fur have gold glitter. The blue tabs (mounted on 3d foam) have star shaped glitters on them which I drew with a quickie glue pen. The snowflakes with round jewel centers were also dunked in gold glitter.
